Deb has initiated ACLS training. There will be 5 classes held over 2 days. This will occur February through April. There will also be an optional Pediatric ACLS training session. Sign up at the class meeting. You will not be able to sign up for these classes after the deadline to sign up has been passed. Following the class meeting fourth years will be going out to dinner.
If any fourth years can help out the Office of Admissions during the interview season it would be much appreciated. Tour guides are especially needed the first week of January as first and second years will not be back from winter break yet. Please stop by Dean Brienza's office if you can help and remember there is a free lunch (in FDR) and a little cash in it for you if you do.
The fourth year class will have an opportunity in December and two opportunities in January to meet in an informal setting with their deans and associate deans (Deans Discussion meetings). There will be an e-mail sent to the class from the Dean's office and sign-up for the various dates will be on a first-come/first-serve basis.

MD/PhD
The MD/PhD program congratulates Ronald Knoblauch for successfully defending his thesis.
Basketball - Funding for a new fourth year basketball team was approved. The motion passed 12-0-4 (for-against-abstain).
Update on CORE - Brian discussed the issues that were brought up during the last CORE meeting. He talked about not-for-certain improvements in library space, student health, Rubin Gym, and the North Shore Shuttle.
Rubin Gym - The committee has already started making small improvements. The broken stair-master has been fixed. A new scale is on the way. New, small, inexpensive equipment (e.g.- new tricep roll, etc.) will soon be bought.
Unionizing - Brian briefly brought up the unionization messages that have been e-mailed to the entire school. We will discuss unionization and how it will affect graduate students at the next student council meeting.
Steve Mezzafonte/Extra Clothing - Steve thought it would be a good idea to sell the extra NYU logo-ed clothing sitting in the student council office and to donate the proceeds to charity. The student council officers approved the idea 16-0-0 (for-against-abstain). There will probably be a sale before the holidays. Stay tuned.
