Corrections to Minutes 10/24:

6) Letter to Dean Scotch regarding computer purchase will not discuss TLC.

New Items:

1) Letter to Dean Scotch

Council unanimously approved letter to Dean Scotch requesting that $400,000 be spent on computers over the next four years and that some be placed in Coles to ensure that medical students have access to them. New computers should incorporate both modules for first and second year students as well as word processing capabilities for students in the clinical years.

2) ER Interest Club

Stephen brought up a request for starting an ER interest club through the Bellvue ER residency program. This will allow interested first and second year students to learn and practice clinical skills such as drawing blood. The inital budget will be $190 plus 12 IOIs.

The request was approved unanimously.

3) AAMC Conference in Washington, D.C.

Yolanda and John Paul attended. The Organization for Student Representatives (OSR) to AAMC had a workshop where students from all the medical schools had a chance to contribute to the group's platform on improving the medical school experience. Four committee spots are open for any interested students, including minority affairs, Liason for Committee on Medical Education, and Graduate Sudent Affairs. Yolanda will send out email with details on the happenings and committee positions.

4) CORE

Subcommittee meeting tomorrow at noon. Update at next meeting.

5) Mental Status

Deadlines for contributions next Tue (Nov 7). Next issue should be out Nov 16.

6) Pancake Dinner

Set for Mon., Nov 20. Rich has already contacted faculty about serving at breakfast.

7) Student Cafeteria

Yince talked to Chet about extending student cafeteria hours and setting aside student space in the winter. Chet is currently discussing these possibilities with the Deans.

8) 4th year Switch Party

All classes are invited! Fri Nov 10, 10-12 pm. Craig and Nayan arranged to have one floor in Webster Hall for NYU. Drink specials, $1.50 beer, $1 off mixed drinks. Cost is $10 students, $20 all others.
