Student Mistreatment - LAst week Caroline Ryan came to Student Council with a proposal to monitor and reduce student harassment. During the week a section in the student handbook was found that addressed student mistreatment. Due to the fact that this location is not visible enough, Student Council voted 10-2-3 (For-Against-Abstain) to make a short readable version of the policy and e-mail it to all students. Subsequently, we voted 5-4-4 (For-Against-Abstain) to post this short version on the bulletin board. Finally, we voted 10-0-1 (For-Against-Abstain) to post this short version on the web.
Student Life Committee - The committee will meet September 16th at 11:00.
Rubin Lounge - Security wrote Brian a memo addressing all of our concerns about the lounge and the basketball courts. We don't anticipate any immediate problems.
Student Health - Brian has a meeting with Dean Abramson next week to discuss moving student health. This issue may resurrect CORE.
Rubin Gym - Beda who runs the gym wants everybody to know new equipment has been purchased and that a cleaning contact is being arraigned.
Fishbowl - Brian met with Joel Oppenheim about the space. He was informed that the space has now been given to graduate students by order of Dean Glickman. Dr. Oppenheim has promised us that he would restore medical student access at any time if the space became necessary. Student Council would like the record to reflect that we lost this space because we had a verbal contract. In the future all deal should be made in writing.
Scrubs - In an effort to get the best deal Brian and Felix met with Dean Lesser and Laundry services to clarify the student linen policy. The policy that we have agreed to is as follows:
First Years: School will purchase: Two sets of scrubs for each student &
One short coat.
School will rent & wash: One long coat for 4 months of Anatomy.
Students will wash: Their scrubs and short coat
Second Years:
Students will wash: Their scrubs and short coat.
Third Years:
School will wash: Two Scrubs and short coat (owned by students).
Forth years:
School will wash: Two Scrubs and short coat (owned by students).
School will rent & wash: One long coat for Sub-Is.
Students keep scrubs and short coat at the end of the year however, they must return long coat to get diploma.
Netter Pictures - The Netter pictures were taken down by the library to restore them. Other picture will be temporarily hung in their place.
