Class of 2000
There will be a class meeting on Next Wednesday (Sept 16th) at 6:30 in the Student Caf.
Dean Abramson was unhappy with our curriculum committee ideas because he felt they were
too loaded with council members. Deb will be meeting with him this week and discussing
it next week.
Deb will also be discussing the North Shore Shuttle issue with Dean Lesser and updating
us next week.
The scrub issue has remained an issue and Eric will discuss it with Jack.
Class of 2001
Nicole will meet with Deb to discuss the makings of the Clerkship lottery committee.
The last meeting of the orientation committee is tomorrow (Sept 9th) and the evaluations
of events will be discussed.
There will be a class meeting on Thursday (Sept 10th) at 6 PM in the Student Caf.
Nicole will be meeting with Dean Lesser and Carol Foster to discuss the distribution of
the boards packets when they arrive.
Manish is working on planning parties for both the first and second years after their
first exams, probably at The Joshua Tree.
MD/PhD
The party will not be at the 5 and Dime as previously reported to try and save some money.
We are presently looking for a new place.
The male/female split of the new MD-PhD's is not as even as we believed. It is actually
7 males to 2 females. We will look into gathering info on the admissions process.
LCME: Eric will be meeting with Dean Levin at the end of the week in order to discuss the upcoming self-study for reaccredidation the school will be undergoing in the upcoming year. Dean Glickman and Dean Levin will be attending a council meeting in the future to formally present the process.
Demetre discussed the fact that students were sat down during pediatrics and the LCME was discussed. It was felt that the importance of the LCME was being downplayed. The history is easily lost because the evaluation occurs once every 7 years, but last time the LCME was here the students became so frustrated they ended up leaving the table and the student report was actually written by the faculty.
Our goals for changes to be made in the Medical Center will be discussed at length at the next meeting.
