Old Items:
- Dean Haynes
Dean Haynes said she enjoyed her visit to student council and is asking for help with
the open house on Saturday. Put the announcement in Mental Status
- Housing
Adele Selik and Joe Miniaci have left the medical center. There is a search committee
for replacements, headed by Dale Winston. The search committee includes representatives
from nursing but no one from the medical school. Perhaps we could ask if Dean Scotch or
someone else might be allowed to represent the medical school on the search committee.
Changes in the waitlist policy were proposed by the housing office but they agreed to
let the old system stand for the remainder of this year. They forsee potential problems
in May with the incoming students, but are OK with it for now.
- MD/PhD Clarifications
Clarifications handed out by Demetre on the approved stuff from last week was looked
over and accepted by a vote of 9:2:1, with the following changes and further
clarification:
- Item 1 will read "expected to attend" instead of "sanctioned to attend"
- Item 5 is designed to give MD/PhDs, who do not get to hear campaign
speeches, more information on candidates before voting. It is not
agreed upon yet who will run the election, but it will be up to that
person's discretion how to define the "letter of intent" to suit the
purpose for which it is meant.
Finally Steven offered an objection to the use of "Junior" Representative and placing
restrictions on who could run for the two positions. The first he felt implied a future
voting role for the "junior rep" position which was not originally intended, and the
second he said was not necessary-- the points about semantics are here noted but were
not voted on.
- Sweatshirts
Are coming in at the end of the week. Yince, Edie, Seth, Alan, and Demetre offered to
help sell the sweatshirts and shorts in front of the Med Center Library on Wed May 1.
New Items:
- 3rd Year Rep Opening
Only one person in the class seemed interested in running for the position, so it is
possible that Stephen may want to simply announce that anyone who is interested contact
him and if there is only one person, accept them and forgo a formal election.
- Officer Turnover
The May 6 meeting will be for turnover, and we'll go out to eat! Anyone who does not
have their position descriptions in to Sarita can't go. Sorry! So get them in!!
